  Obituary: The RECCAA Muscat Chapter  deeply mourns the sudden demise of Er. Joydeep Das (of ECE 1996 batch, REC - Calicut, Mumbai Chapter ). Er.Joydeep met with a train accident on Saturday 11th and was admitted to the KEM Hospital, Mumbai with severe head injuries.  He passed away on 16th March. His body was taken to Calcutta on 17th. We pray to the Lord Almighty to give strength to the bereaved family members.-  A Message from Mumbai chapter.

• World RECCAA meet: We are pleased to announce that the RECCAA Muscat chapter will be hosting the first WORLD RECCAA FAMILY MEET during the month of March 2001. We expect a large no. of RECCAA Aluminies from all over the world to attend this event.  A preliminary survey form will be floated shortly, to assess the expected participants. This meet is attached with the DUBAI SHOPPING FESTIVAL 2001. During this season special concession tickets will be availabe and you can easily visit Dubai. During this meet at Muscat, our Chapter will provide free accomodation for the participants. This is a unique chance to meet our old friends and enjoy the beauty of the Gulf. A Committee has been constituted for organizing this event.  We request your full co-operation.

• RECCAA-72 Meet 2000 - The 1972 batch of REC, Calicut  with their families are meeting at Kochi from 29th April 2000 to 1st May 2000. The get-together is hosted by the Kochi wing of 1972 batch. • RECCAA Muscat chapter celeberated the Millennium & New Year on 31st December 1999. A large no. of RECCAA members with their family attended the party. Thanks to Mr.M.N.Venugopal for arranging  an excellent  party.

• In addition to the meetings on various festivals of Id, Onam and Christmas when sumptuous feast are arranged, get togethers are organized every 2 months with various pieces of entertainment like quiz programs for kids, games for couples etc. An annual picnic like a dhow-cruise or a pool side party, Farm house picnic etc is usually held during the cooler months of December or January. The members are constantly endeavouring to find innovative programmes to make the get-together livelier and enjoyable for each and every Alumins and his family.

• The Alumni has generously donated Rs.20,000/- for the construction of Rajan Memorial casuality ward at Ernakulam General hospital.

• The Alumni  donated Rs.15,000/- as medical aid for the kidney transplant of Mr. Prakashan, one of our old REC Alumni at Bangalore.

• The Alumni has generously donated Rs.11,500/- to Kargil defence fund.

• All Kerala Engineers meet - A family get-together of all Engineers from different Engineering colleges met on 14th October 1999 at Sheraton International Hotel, Muscat.
